Alumnus Igor Aronov (BFA 1997 Photography) took home first prize in the inaugural AuthentiCity photography competition, a partnership between Illy Issimo and SVA designed to enable an emerging photographer educated at SVA to create a new body of work exploring urban life. Aronov was one of five finalists whose work as exhibited at the AuthentiCity Lounge during the recent Food Network New York City Food & Wine Festival, and he will receive a new photography commission from Illy.

The work of the five AuthentiCity finalists including the winner—Carlos Alvarez Montero (MFA 2010 Photography, Video and Related Media), Igor Aronov (BFA 1997 Photography), Matthew Baum (MFA 2007 Photography, Video and Related Media), Giselle Behrens (MPS 2010 Digital Photography) and Caroline Shepard (MFA 2002 Photography and Related Media)—will be on view at the AuthentiCity Lounge, a specially commissioned space at 632 Hudson Street, October 4 – 10.
