Brian M. Cassidy & Melanie Shatzky invite you the the NYC premiere of their two feature films, FRANCINE and THE PATRON SAINTS, which will be screening at BAMcinemaFest on June 22nd, and June 25th respectively.
Academy Award winner Melissa Leo (The Fighter) delivers an unnerving, near-silent performance as Francine, a woman struggling to find her way after being released from prison. Rejecting human connection, she takes a series of jobs where she ultimately discovers a deep and, at times, worrying bond with animals. Gritty and spare, Cassidy and Shatzky’s narrative feature debut is about finding solace in unfamiliar places.
“gets at something true and stirring…distilled to the bone” — Variety
“raw, intimate and observed with penetrating acuity”— The Hollywood Reporter
“[Melissa Leo's] performance is absolutely devastating.” — New York Magazine
Screens on Friday June 22nd at 7pm

THE PATRON SAINTS:
A departure from the traditional documentary style, Cassidy and Shatzky’s nonfiction feature debut is a ciné-essay of the forgotten souls of a rural nursing home. Narrated by the facility’s youngest patient—whose intensely candid words are, by turns, mournful and macabre—The Patron Saints is an unflinching lyrical portrait of life on the periphery.
“unsettling…disquieting…disturbing” — Indiewire
“doesn’t flinch from the most depressing elements of senility, abandonment and despair” — Variety
“suspended between lucidity and delirium” — Time Out NY
Screens on Monday June 25th at 7pm
