MFA Photography, Video, and Related Media invites you to a lecture on the artist book with Mario Santoro-Woith. This lecture will explore how artist books can incorporate and integrate mediums such photography, xerography, screen printing, paper making and graphic design. The layering of these techniques defines the specific kind of visual storytelling ingrained in Mario's bookmaking process.

The artist will describe his techniques and present examples of his work along with details of production and processing methods. Furthermore, the work of other artists in this field will be discussed, with particular attention to the Italian tradition.

Artist Bio:

Mario Santoro-Woith (born 1968 in Cuba) is an Italian photographer working in the field of experimental photography and xerography printmaking. Exploring these techniques, Mario has exhibited widely and self-published several limited - edition artist's books. His work has been exhibited internationally and his books are in numerous collections including the Museum of Modern Art in New York , The Museum Folkwang in Essen (Germany), The Fleet Library at the Rhode Island School of Design in Providence, and the Museum of Fine Arts in Houston. Mario lives in Todi (Umbria). Mario is one of the founders of the Todi Circle, a photography think tank held every year in Todi (Umbria) during the month of June.
