By “removing” Soviet monuments from Polish postcards, Karolina Majewska draws attention to the imprint of history on Poland today. She explains: "The postcards represent a period in the history of my country that I do not remember, but I still experience ‘traces' of Communism in human behavior. My gesture of breaking up these images could be read as a metaphor for the function of memory. How do we forget? Why do we not want to forget?"
