Serichai Traipoom

NIGHTLIFE is a book project and photographic series documenting New York City’s queer club subculture from the point of view of one of its own. Comprising hundreds of photographs taken over more than three years, Traipoom’s project conveys the spontaneity, vitality, and intimacy of the families that form on the dance floor between outsiders from all walks of life. These images showcase the performative ways that personalities express themselves through their outward appearance and their total disregard for societal norms. A series of studio portraits captures select participants outside the party, enabling viewers to see past the fervor in more poignant moments of calm.
