Brianna Calello is pretty Bostonian but hides her accent well. She’s very curious in a broad spectrum of things, ranging from the history of photography to the social importance of pop music. Brianna went to a bunch of schools for undergrad, ending with a BFA in Photography from Lesley University. When she’s not buried in books on the family photograph, she’s a collections Registrar. Her future goals include winning Big Brother to pay off her student loans so that she can pursue a PhD in Media Studies, worry free.
Chen Chen I believe that I am born to be an artist with the mission to convey visual beauty via my photos. I am willing to discover my self-value by exploring the meaning of my works, the ways of expression I use, and the inspiration of my creation. I try to read, watch, and listen to different elements in the world. The idea of pursuing deeper understanding of integration and collision of traditional art with modern art motivates me to keep working in this area.
Born in Rome (Italy), in 1991, Livia DiLucia started studying photography while she was studying modern and contemporary history at Sapienza University of Rome. After graduating with a thesis on the use of photography as a historical source. After that, she moved to Barcelona (Spain), where she studied at Grisart, International School of Photography. She exhibited her work internationally, in cities such as Barcelona, Rome, Warsaw, Vendôme and Arles. Currently she is exploring the moving image and its relationship with photography.
Shuwan Chen is a photographer who grew up in Nanjing, China. She studied in Australian National University, where she majored in Sociology. Mostly, she shoot abstractions, portraits and her dog Pipi.
A native Floridian and erstwhile financier, Jonathan Ellis’ life as itinerant photographer, multimedia artist, and writer, is dedicated to exploring the myriad ways our world can be seen and felt. While his photographic explorations often gravitate toward oblique moments of beauty often overlooked in the daily comings and goings, his moving image work serves as observation and critique of the sociological ebb and flow in the United States. When not obsessing over an idea, he can be found cooking, building models or enjoying the great outdoors.
Haipei Han (Yuxi) grew up in Canton, China, she studied filmmaking as an undergrad at the University of Texas at Austin. She worked in Los Angeles for around a year and was terrible at driving. After relocating back to China, she worked/lived in Beijing and Shanghai for over 2 years.

Brett Henrikson is a fine artist living and working in New York, he received his BFA in photography from the Rhode Island School of Design in 2011. His master’s thesis is an investigation and remixing of art historical imagery, he uses digital and analog editing techniques to compress time and space in his compositions. Many of the artworks utilize idea of digital materiality as an alternative mode of image production. He has juried and curated shows on alternative photographic processes, and has shown his work at numerous galleries around the country.
Junyan Hou (Chinese, b.1990) is current a MFA Photography student studying in School of Visual Arts, New York. Born in China, moved to American where he got his first MFA in photography at San Jose State University, California and a BA in International Business. Before came to America, Junyan was a commercial photographer in a high-end studio. Specialized in studio working environment. Junyan’s work blurred and blend the line between commercial and contemporary photography. Most of his work is the representation of his personal perspective of cultural difference, and the study of mentality.
Olivia Hunter is a photographer who grew up in Northern Virginia. She graduated with a BFA in Photography and Imaging at NYU Tisch School of the Arts in 2014. She has worked for Steven Meisel's Studio and Archive, Art and Commerce, and most recently Human Rights Watch. Olivia enjoys shooting with film, exploring New York City, and drinking cider.

Jeong Hur (Born Seoul, South Korea) is an artist who works on photography and related media. He creates abstract images based on what he learned from the mental issues that tormented him for a long time. Because mental problems are not observable visually, Jeong tries to escape from traditional forms of photography. Instead of reproducing images based on visual observation with using camera and light as the minimum, he practices reproducing the other things, such as emotional fluctuation, time and the other senses except for vision, visually.
Xue JIANG (Shirley) is a multimedia photographer who grew up in China. Her favorite artist is Rinko Kawauchi. She likes studying on JPOP and KPOP Culture as well as learning Japanese in her spare time. Cats are her favorite animal because they are smart and mysterious!
Yan Jin is a photographer and image-maker who was born and grew up in Shanghai. She studied French in university and once stayed in Paris as an exchange student. After graduation, she worked as auditor in Big4 accounting firm, and was later a financial analyst and controller in retail business. She’s interested in exploring different things and pushing her own boundaries. Fun fact: she hit a wall by accident in her teens and till now her front tooth is still half broken.
Tooraj Khamenehzadeh is an artist based in Tehran and New York. His works have been presented in various festivals, exhibitions and biennials such as Iran Photo Biennial (IR), Monnaie de Paris (FR), Chongqing Photo and Video Biennale (CN), International Art Festival (NP) and also published in different books and magazines like African Textile Today (UK) and PIX Magazine (IN). He received his BS in computer engineering from Azad University in Iran.
Hye Mi Kim is a digital artist based in Seoul, South Korea.
Esteban Kuriel is a New York-based photographer, videographer and magazine collector. He is an avid admirer of various forms of visual expression, including portraiture, architecture, and documentary journalism. His personal work explores the intimacy of relationships.
Yi Chen was born in Xiamen, China in 1989. In his most recent work, Yi focuses on the our perceptions of the digitally simulated domains, urban and architectural environments. Petros Lales is a Greek visual and new media artist based in New York City. In 2015, he graduated from the Athens School of Fine Arts in Greece. He is the recipient of several awards and fellowships of excellence. His art practice is experimenting with conceptual and emotional ideas that aim to redefine social structures and belief systems that form our society and the artist's psyche. His work has been widely shown in Europe and USA.
Song Lu is a Chinese photographer. Her fascination and interests in ‘capturing a moment’ have derived from her childhood experience of long-time observing environment from her dad’s car. She enjoys observing the constant changes of the outside world and is eager to find a way to freeze these cherished moments in her memory. As a furry animals fanatic, she attempts to observe and document the world around she with the sensitivity of cat and curiosity of puppy.
Terrance Purdy is a photographer and filmmaker from Chicago, IL. He graduated from the University of Missouri with an Interdiscplinary Degree, with concentrations in art history, black studies, and PHOTOGRAPHY! He is also a DJ, addicted to manga, a pizza maker, and a reader.
Yanjun Rong is a designer, photographer and video-maker who grew up in Beijing, China. She studied Design in Lancaster University, the UK. She is especially interested in taking photographs of children and animals. She is also passionate about taking short courses from various fields, such as ceramics, fashion, visual presentation, and drawing.
Hannah La Follette Ryan is a photographer from Amherst, MA. She graduated from Vassar College in 2014 where she studied Russian and moved to the city as fast as she could. She has been a high-class nanny ever since. Her favorite chocolate drink is Yoohoo.
Born and raised in Spain, living in New York for the last 5 years and working as a photographer. I completed my Bachelor Degree in England where I learned that photography was more than just a craft. For me, it is a journey to explore the world with ambiguity and wonder. I am looking forward to immerse myself in this new adventure as a MFA candidate.
Cui Sihan is a 22 year old graduate student from Northern China. She studied photography as an undergrad at Communication University of Zhejiang, Hangzhou. Interested in social issues, she hopes to work in documentary industry and plans to travel and volunteer in Africa. And her favorite photographers are Mary Ellen Mark and Chien-Chi Chang.
Josh Spector is a photographer that grew up in New Jersey. He studied film and photography at the Pennsylvania State University as an undergraduate. Since graduating, Josh has worked at Company 3, a post-production house, on a multitude of feature films from blockbusters to indie hits. He has a cat named Grover.
Zhou Weihan, born in China, he completed a degree in image and multimedia at the China Academy of Art. After graduation, he lived in Shanghai for several years and worked in BBDO where he first got into TVC production and commercial photography. His favorite directors are David Lynch and Kar Wai Wong.
Di Wu is a visual artist and photographer born in Hangzhou, China in 1993. Her work explores the role identification in diverse relationships. With observations and psychological case studies, she uses her own visual language to recreate the experience of autognosis.
Ziyu Ying was born and raised in Guangdong province, China. Although his undergrad major was marine science, his dream is to become a successful photographer.
Born in Changchun, China, Hanwen Zhang currently lives and studies in New York. He received his BS degree on Mathematics and Physics from the Tsinghua University in 2016. His art practice mostly is based on still and moving images, supplemented by performance, digital technology and writing. His work has been exhibited in New York, Beijing, Tianjin, and other places, while his articles were published by ArtCo China, BLINK, BROWNIE, and other magazines or media.
Tianli Zhang is a 26 year old man, who quit his job and left his home town. Born in Hainan, the 2nd biggest island in China, he grow up in Jiangsu and Shanghai and studied cinematography at the Communication University of China in Beijing. The next stop is NYC, hope nice shoegaze or dreampop bands here : )
Yeshan Zhang (Jasmine) grew up in Kashgar, Xinjiang, the westernmost city of China. She studied International Journalism as an undergrad at BNU-HKBU United International College in Zhuhai, a city in Southern China that is located 3,600 miles away from her hometown. In her junior year at college, she exchanged to Bethany Lutheran College in Minnesota, where she had a happy and memorable semester. She likes travel and cook and her favorite photographer is Gregory Crewdson. This is her second time to New York City, she looks forward to meet new people and try new things at SVA.
Xuan Zhao is a photographer in the heart of New York City who also goes by Sean. Born in Baoding China, he came over to the states at an early age and grew up in a small town in the Adirondacks upstate New York. Sean went to the School of Visual Arts where he studied Photography & Video. Currently Sean is working on the documentary project of the small town of Newcomb upstate New York where he grew up.
