In A Woman, Phenomenally, Tiffany Smith reacts to a history of photographic representation of people of color by focusing on how identity is constructed. Her portraits feature subjects who could be classified as “women of color” despite the specifics of their identity. The video Miss USA? serves as a counter-narrative to the portraits. The installation Indoor/Outdoor creates a domestic environment based on Smith’s own memories of home.
