Fiction About Country C
Fiction About Country C is a documentary film that would self-identify as fiction. Comprised of footage taken in her home country of China (C), Collin Yin Xueqing weaves 3 storylines following around 3 characters: a background actor she is meeting for the first time, a blind masseuse categorized as an acquaintance, and her Mother representing a truly intimate relationship. With Collin’s compelling voiceovers completing the orchestration, this work bounces back and forth from self-portrait to portrait of a Country (C). A throw-back to French new-wave, this film is a story of the East made for an audience of the West.
